How We Got Here

Neales Spit Roast Catering is a true family business, built on over 50 years of hands-on experience, hard work, and a genuine love for quality meat.

Neale’s journey began in 1974, when he was just 14 years old. Having left school as soon as he was able (school was never his thing!), he went straight to work in his parents’ butcher shop in Melton, a business they had built in 1972. With a father who worked at an abattoir, it was only natural that Neale developed a strong interest in the trade from an early age.

By the age of 19, Neale had completed his apprenticeship at William Angliss, going on to work in a variety of butcher shops across Melbourne. His career took him from owning his own shop at Highpoint, to working at Footscray Market, gaining invaluable experience along the way.

In 1988, Neale purchased a butcher shop in Woodville, Hoppers Crossing. It was here that the local community truly came to know and trust Neale for his skill, quality produce, and honest approach. After successfully running his own shop for several years, Neale decided to expand into spit roast catering, running both the butcher shop and catering business side by side.

As demand for his catering grew, Neale made the decision to sell the shop and focus entirely on what is now Neales Spit Roast Catering. That decision laid the foundation for the business you see today.

Proudly No-nonsense catering, we are offering spit roast, bbqs, and finger food menus, delivered all over Melbourne and regional areas.

Neale’s Spit Roast Catering is fully registered with the Health Department in the City of Wyndham and actively implements the Victorian State Government’s Food Safety Program to ensure top-quality service and hygiene.

With a relaxed vibe, great quality food and a team with years of experience, Neale's are able to cater for all occasions; big, small, casual or formal.

We are happy to accomodate special requests where possible.

Over the years, we’ve built lasting relationships with a wide range of satisfied customers including corporate organisations, government bodies, and private event hosts who regularly rely on our service for their catering needs.

Our team consist of family members, cousins, friends, & neighbours creating a fun environment to work in, they’re are the pillars that hold this organisation up.
